Outrage over Austin's ouster

A despised contestant's triumph over a fan favorite has triggered Internet outrage over Wednesday night's episode of "Project Runway."

Wendy Pepper, the 40-year-old mom from Middleburg, Va., who has emerged as the Cruella de Vil of the Bravo reality series, beat out sweet, sensitive Austin Scarlett, 23, of Eugene, Ore.

For anyone unfamiliar with Bravo's Project Runway, here's a quick primer: A dozen aspiring fashion designers-including a wicked queen, a witty Brit and a bitter mom- are pitted against each other in a series of contests. Their creations, modeled on a catwalk, are judged by a ruthless panel that eliminates a loser each week by having super model Heidi Klum declare, "You're out!" Those still hanging on during February's Fashion Week will battle it out for the crown.
